COMMUNITY CREW UP is NOVAC's program to connect locals around the country with opportunities on set.  In Louisiana, we provide access to on-set experiences and paid opportunities, and around the country, we partner with HBO, Warner Bros and Turner Broadcasting to find diverse talent interested in working behind the scenes in some of Hollywood's most engaging and inclusive production environments. 


NOVAC is excited to announce our Louisiana Economic Development-funded Film Industry Workforce Training in partnership with Film New Orleans. This  training is FREE and open to participants (18 yrs old +) who are Louisiana residents. Prospective participants will be required to complete an application and may be asked to interview for placement in a training. Participants that complete training requirements will be referred to film-industry positions as productions reach out to NOVAC for their hiring needs. And, participants gain NOVAC membership for one year. NOVAC member benefits include:

Participants will learn the ins and outs of working in the Costume department. Through this training we will take an in-depth look into various Costume department positions, such as: Costume Designer, Costume Supervisor, on-set Costumer, Shopper, Ager/dyer, Seamstress, and Costume Production Assistants. We’ll discuss the relationships the Costume Department have with other departments, like stunts, special effects, sound, and props. Participants will learn how to break down a script and interpret its' budgetary requirements. There is will be brief introduction to costuming software, C-Plot Pro, and how it helps prep, shoot, and wrap a production. Lastly, there will a session covering  the role of the union and how and where to look for employment.
